'Daddy, WHO?!' HELP CF Camp 2009
It's another time around in the year again where the HELP's CF is organizing their annual Christian Fellowship Camp again!
I certainly am looking forward to it this time, but geez...the terrible fall that I had during last year's camp is still ringing in my mind, not to mention that this time it's most likely going to be held at the same spot again. The organization was great, the speaker was friendly. It was me being clumsy at that time, and it just needed ONE clumsy experience to cast a scar on my elbow. Sobs, you can read the rest of my story here (pictures included, lol).
Anyway, I think this year's CF Camp has quite a unique theme:

Yasmin Ahmad (1958-2009)
Only today have I gotten the news from Khai Sim that Yasmin Ahmad, our local renowned advertiser and film maker, has passed on. She died few days back on July 25, 11.25pm, at the age of 51. I know I know, I realise that I am pretty outdated in terms of getting latest updates, but I'm now writing this post as a tribute to this beloved woman, of her works and legacy left behind.
Knowingly or unknowingly, I've never really realised how much I admire Yasmin's videos and scripts till today. Probably because today, only justnow, I've personally met up with a personality who is quite alike as Yasmin Ahmad herself - Datuk Faridah Merican, who was formerly part of TV Malaysia and now the Director of KLPac (KL Performing Arts Centre). And probably because of my shock towards the sudden death of this icon of the local filming industry. Well, what can I say, most people start to be aware and appreciate the works of someone only after they die, very common - take P.Ramlee and M.Jackson for instance.
Anyway, I just want to express out the things that I appreciate and admire most about Yasmin Ahmad. I believe, of all, it would be her sincerity. Not that I know her personally, but through her works that speak of her character. Up to date, I've managed to come across only some of her greater works such as Sepet and several other advertisements. But just based on those scripts, she is able to portray how sincere she can be in expressing her messages/meaning. And it doesn't just stop there, Yasmin was able to infuse the value of multiculturalism in her works so naturally - that is how amazing her talents are.
I've youtubed for some of Yasmin Ahmad's advertisements. The following features one of my favourite ads. Even though I replay them again and again, they never fail to touch me with its meaning.
Ain't she such a master of 'Appeal to Emotions' (CTS, 2008)?
And another one.
Aiyoooo! His expression at the end is priceless!
It's pitiful that a passing of this great artist leaves a void in the local film making and advertising industry. Apparently Yasmin Ahmad encountered a stroke (or a cerebral hemorrhage - blood clot in the brain) due to excessive stress and workload. She was scheduled to have a meeting with our local artiste Datuk Siti Nurhaliza together with her husband Datuk K, but failed to attend. She was found in a position where her head laid on her workdesk with both her hands cupping her face. Soon after, she was transported to the emergency ward to rid the cerebral hemorrhage in her brain. However, despite undergoing a surgery, she didn't manage it and passed away two days after. More than 200 people attended her funeral, including public icons such as the Minister from the PM's Department- Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, Datuk Tony Fernandez and Jaclyn Victor.
Whatever it is, the passing of Yasmin Ahmad has made me realise how sudden and uncertain death can be. And however desperate we want to accomplish our goals and work, we should always realize our limits. True, this may have contradicted the saying, 'we never know what are our limits until we push ourselves to it' (which I believe in it as well), but I guess we just have to know when to push ourselves to strive further, and when to sit back and take a chill pill. Life is great with accomplishments, but it is more fulfilling if we know how to appreciate it well.
"I am optimistic and sentimental to the point of being annoying, especially to people who think that being cynical and cold is cool. Everyday, I thank Allah for everyday things like the ability to breathe, the ability to love, the ability to laugh, and the ability to eat and drink." (Yasmin Ahmad's Blog, 2009)
P.S. Farewell, Yasmin Ahmad. If you're interested to read more about her thoughts, do check out her blog (yes, she blogs, a lot, just like us):

It just feels awkward as you read the posts, knowing that the blog would never be updated again - a blog of a deceased.

Alien-fied by District 9?
There's definitely been a lot of publicity going on about the upcoming alien blockbuster - District 9, especially through the bloggers. In my point of view, being an alien movie, its storyline is somewhat similar to the other alien movie hits such as Alien vs Predator, Doom, or even games like Stalker which depicts the mutation that took place after a nuclear disaster.
However, based on the trailer, what I appreciate most of this movie, especially, would be its effects. Since my last Photoshop experience attempting to create a liquid figure (which certainly wasn't quite a success), I'm simply amazed by the works of movie makers nowadays who can successfully animate an effect from mere virtual things (CGI - Computer-generated Imagery). Up to date, one of the works that fascinates me most would be The Transformers, and I believe that District 9 would fascinate me as much?
Check out the trailer here. It's played in high definition, so do enjoy its clarity!
P.S. Lots of things had happened during the past 2 weeks of Summer Break. Will blog more soon!

Not another tribute?
The news is out, yes. Everybody knows that Michael Jackson has passed on so suddenly.
It's pitiful. During the days before he died, he was so indebted and encountered all kinds of endeavors, even the media put him in such bad light. But now after he died, only do people start to pay tribute to him and appreciate his work and existence. It's sad to see that people realize what are the things that are precious and worth valuing only after they have lost it, don't you think so?
The ordeal of Michael Jackson has definitely made me realize something - that life very unpredictable. We KNOW that life is short, we KNOW that we should cherish every moment living on earth, but how many of us really think that this is so important and remind ourselves to be grateful for everyday given to us?
Well, I'm not trying to judge anything here because I'm included as well. I create bucket lists, resolutions, dreams and goals. My aim, all these while, is to experience and explore as many things as I can in life - and that's good. But now I start to realize, that I've included everything on my to-dos, but I was lack of one thing - to cherish the people who love me most, my family.
Those who know me well would have known that I do encounter a lot of family problems all my life. Well, no matter because I don't deem them as problems anymore but simply a part of me and my family. The point is, did I actually detach myself from them instead? Have I really adopted a fresh perspective of the matter, or have I actually ignored it entirely?
The question remains.
Tonight, let me end my post with this short video clip that I've bumped into on Youtube, featuring Paris Jackson who spoke at her father's funeral.
Be empathetic. Put yourself in her shoes and try to feel how she felt. Foooh! It's incredible I'd say.
Good night everyone.

THE Zorbing post (finally!)
Finals are over, which means my second semester is over, and my scholarship application is over, so pretty much all the stressing chapters are over! Whee!
I have just begun my 1 month-20 day-break since yesterday. And finally, there is so much time for me to do the things that I've always longed for! I'll be renewing my 2009 Resolution list and will blog about it the next post, alright.
Okie doks! Here's a post about my Zorbing experience last month, as a participant as well as an organizer. I know it is a post that is long due, but... who caresss.....busy maaaa! LOL!
*Note: This post is dedicated to Jia and Nat. Thank you both for the awesome photographs and moral support given for me to complete this post. Lol!

READY? GET SET?
"PUSSHHHH!!!"

Yayyyy! Mission accomplished!
Yup, that was the only way for us to get into the ball. To me, it looks like a 'reversal delivery', if you get what I mean. HAHHAHA
(Photo credits of the 3 photos above go to Jessica Yong)
The participants who needed transport - there were only SEVEN of us! and we were chartered a coach that caters for 44 (quality holiday coach okay). Hah! Thanks to Cdr Anthony for the sponsorship though.
The few of us who stayed back. We had free 'hamster-runs'. It was so awesome. Just imagine stuffing yourself in a ball like that without a harness, and poof! the dudes just start rolling you about. Haha...it totally busted my stress. Now, I truly know what it feels like in a dry washing machine.
In conclusion, ....
aih..I'll finish up my conclusion later on, of how awesome this experience was and what sort. Rushing to go out now! I'm gonna sign up for my Undang! WHHEEE!!! after all these yeaaarrrss XD

A Reunion of the 5BR-ians
I just came back from the 5BR (Bunga Raya, 2007) reunion dinner at Eeling's place. Full of laughter and lots of catching up done. It was a simple get-together, where we did nothing else but talk, talk, and more talking. Of course, in any occassion, it wouldn't be satisfying if there isn't any food. We ordered 2 large and 1 medium pizza from Domino's, which were sufficient to fill the stomachs of about 12 people, amazingly.
Overall, it was an enjoyable 2-hour. The subjects, jokes, gossips, and mimics of our former teachers certainly relished a whole lot of my high school experience.
Gah! As stressful and restricted the life of a 16-year old in high school can be, I still miss my secondary school years. How I wished I could relive a day in Form 5, and return to present time the next day. Hah!

At the college library on a Saturday morning
It's a Saturday, there's Finals on Monday, and I'll be having an outing tomorrow. I'm now at the HELP library on a Saturday morning. I thought I'd be the only weird and lonesome student to travel all the way to campus even on a weekend, but to my surprise, it's quite crowded here. I'm suppose to resume my studies, but here I am, visiting other people's blogs, and ta-da! I suddenly felt inspired to blog a post.
Sien... Yesterday, I stayed up late till 5am, toying around with the html codes on my experimental blog. Madness... Oh well, at least I accomplished something - my latest illustration for the upcoming Psychology Futsal Challenge:![[Futsal_Tournament_Poster_01.jpg]](http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_n-mzex2bvrk/Sk7gNkFAznI/AAAAAAAAAXE/lHYeGBAgZMk/s1600/Futsal_Tournament_Poster_01.jpg)
Layout design by me, but this time, due to time constraint, the background was imported; Background credits go to Disenador@Deviantart. (NOTE: This is only a draft, the details are for display purposes only)
Hopefully, I would be able to score well on Monday. (You Chong calls me kiasu =.= lol, I'm not =P)
